DSLR Shutter Add-on Board

If you've already built a breakout box using my minimal PCB and then wish to add-on DSLR shutter support; here is a small board you can build to put into your box with a suitable female 2.5mm stereo plug to plug in your DSLR shutter.

I used a small piece of perf-board to connect the three components up. You'll need:
  • 1 x PC827 (NTE3220) dual opto-isolator
  • 1 x BS250 P-channel FET
  • 1 x 120R Resistor
Here's a small schematic to help you out:

Connect the three wires from the addon board to the breakout board by putting a tiny bit of solder on the ends and then soldering them to the bottom of the breakout board where the 16-wire connector leads come through. When they're attached, use some hot-glue to hold the wires to the bottom of the board and take any strain.

Then put a 2.5mm (or whatever you want) female stereo plug in your breakout box and connect up the three wires from the other side of the addon board. Now you just need a male to male three-wire cable to connect up to your DSLR (the DSLR end must be 2.5mm stereo).
