With the C8 on the fork mount, running cables was a pain in the butt. The power distributor/heater control unit was fixed to a leg of the tripod; so long runs of wire were needed, and they always got tangled up.
With the HEQ5, the control unit is velcro'ed to the side of the mount on the flat side which means it rotates with the RA axis.
The wires run from the controller through a 'grommet' that is held to the OTA with two sided tape. Two layers with thin foam between allow the flat bottom to make good contact with the curved OTA.
From there the wires run under an elastic strap that is around the OTA (a little more wire control) and then to the corrector heater, the finder heater and the Telrad heater.
