To adjust the worm engagement on your HEQ5 you need two hex keys; one for the three large silver cap screws that hold each worm carrier and a smaller one to fit the adjustment setscrews.
Steps for adjustment (same for both axes)
- Loosen the three large silver cap screws JUST enough so that the setscrews will move the carrier.
- Loosen the upper setscrew and tighten the lower setscrew just enough so that you can feel play in the axis.
- Loosen the lower setscrew and tighten the upper setscrew JUST UNTIL PLAY STOPS.
- Gently tighten the three silver cap screws equally. They don't need to be screwed down hard, just enough to hold.
- Tighten the lower setscrew so that it doesn't fall out
